Estuve en Orlando, FL dos a�os mientras mi hermana terminaba sus estudios universitarios, busqu� en linea una iglesia que me pudiera congregar mientras ella terminaba. Llegu� a Centro Cristiano Restauraci�n, el primer d�a que visit� me qued� para los tres cultos. El Pastor Moya y sus predicaciones llegaban al coraz�n del oyente, no hab�a congreso, actividad que dejara pasar por alto. Ya estaba de regreso en PR cuando me entero de lo sucedido, fue bien desgarrador no lo pod�a creer pero tambi�n pude entender que hay un adversario que vino a hurtar, matar y destruir y su nombre es "Satan�s". Comenc� a orar por esta familia para que Dios la restaurara. Este libro es hermoso. Gracias familia Moya por permanecer unidos. Satan�s no pudo con esta familia. Le recomiendo que lo lean, no se arrepentir�n.

Cuan grande y hermosa es la misericordia, gracia y amor de Dios!
Yo trabaj� al lado de Pastor Moya y estuve presente aquel Domingo en la ma�ana. Fue una experiencia desgarradora. Hoy por hoy puedo ver que existe un "todavia" para todo aquel que se arrepiente de corazon y viene ante Dios humildemente. Este libro ha llegado a mi vida como un b�lsamo. Encontr� honestidad, una palabra sencilla pero muy profunda, una reflexi�n para mi alma de la gracia de Dios para cada uno de nosotros, una esperanza y una gran ense�anza de lo que significa perdonar. Gracias a la Familia Moya por este legado.

Tom Hart is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and critically acclaimed Eisner-nominated cartoonist and the Executive Director of The Sequential Artists Workshop in Gainesville, Florida. A child's death; a celebration of life

Reading this intensely personal graphic novel is unsettling. The pain radiates off the pages, and I came to wonder why I was reading it. Schadenfreude? No, because I derived no pleasure from their despair. In part, perhaps, to tap into a pure depth of human grief, to try to understand a little what such an enormous loss would feel like. Like poetry that conveys an experience in and through the language, this graphic novel conveys with laconic text and expressive art the pain that is every parent's nightmare.

Certainly the book might give expression to the feelings and help create a sense of community for the (thankfully) small group of parents who have lost a child. Perhaps for those trying to make sense or even just cope with such a loss, this book is powerfully important. But I think it could be good for other grievers, too. Although different, the loss of anyone we love can feel cataclysmic, and I think the kind of deep hole and sense of drifting the author describes can also be the experience of anyone grieving. I felt echoes of those feelings when I was hit with the loss of 3 beloved relatives in a short time period. Maybe it wasn't the same kind of outrage and despair as that felt by someone who lost a child, but it still hit me hard. This book gave voice to some of that, and I found resonating harmonics in the pages.

But ultimately I value this book because it is a celebration of life. Why did the author want to publish this book? Not for money, surely. I am sure it is as an homage to the love and life of his little girl. At one point one of them says that in spite of the pain, and even if they had known it would end that way, they still would have wanted to experience her joy and life for the brief (almost) 2 years she was with them. That's really what it's all about, right? I never knew little Rosalie, but this book is the best kind of memorial, the best kind of celebration of her life and impact on those around her. May her memory be eternal!

As for me, I'm going to hug my children and try to remember to appreciate every day, even the hard ones, even when my teenager gives me attitude or the little ones can't stop quarreling. Because life is worth living and we only get what we get and we don't know when the rug might be pulled out from under us.

My deepest condolences to the family of little Rosalie Lightning.

Beautiful Memoir Left Me Breathless

I can’t remember the last time I was affected by a book as deeply as I was by Rosalie Lightning by Tom Hart. I have read memoirs by parents who have survived the loss of a child. Some have been more profoundly impressive than others, have left me emotionally exhausted, but this is the first one I had to close repeatedly because I had tears in my eyes and could not read further. Or I simply wanted to breathe in silence for a few moments before reading some more.

Yes, this graphic memoir is simply that good. The images are rough and deceptively simple, not unlike grief itself. There are allusions to classic comics, lyrics, and more. None of these are gratuitous. But there are visual allusions also used and they are so powerfully effective. Nothing on the page is there without reason. And every image, every word, every part of this memoir is breathtaking, bringing tears to my eyes, making me feel so much. There are emotional experiences Hart has that are similar to those other grieving parents have expressed but at no point does this seem trite or clich�. There is so much honesty poured into this graphic memoir, I can’t recommend it strongly enough. It is not an easy book to read. But it is beautiful.

Where did the Big Moon go?

I don't usually read graphic novels, but the description of Rosalie Lightning caught my attention, so here I am. I can't believe how powerful this book is. It is stunning. Heartbreaking. The text is incredible on its own, but coupled with the pictures...I mean, there are no words to describe it. Reading this book is pure feeling. All you do is experience the author's pain along with him.

Some of my favorite parts:

The part where he talks to a happy pregnant woman right after his baby dies, and he describes himself, draws himself, as shattered obsidian.

The part where he draws "Images You'll Get Used to While Grieving Your Lost Child: crackers, fruits, and meats in little gift boxes; oranges peeled, never eaten; your spouse on the ground; you on the ground." The part where he describes his past (a sketch of his baby playing in the grass), his present (a sketch of him wide- and bleary-eyed on the ground), his future (a solid square of blackness).

The many parts where he shows what his child was like (pointing at the moon: Where did the Big Moon go, Daddy?), and what she could have been, but will never be.

In other words, I cried. A lot.

There is light at the end of this book--or maybe I should say growth. I love the last story Hart shares. In fact, I was surprised by the solidly--almost defiantly--hopeful ending. (Maybe Hart was, too?)

My heart goes out to him and his wife. I hope they find peace (and at least a little bit of joy) after such a horrible tragedy.

About the Author

Lars T. Berger, Ph.D is founder of BreezeSolve and director of R&D at Kenus Inform�tica. While working for Nortel Networks, and during his stay at Aalborg University financed by Nokia Networks, he focused on MIMO channel modeling, signal processing, and scheduling algorithms for 3G cellular systems. As visiting professor at University Carlos III of Madrid, he extended his work to 4G, as well as wireless LAN and sensor networks. As senior engineer at Design of Systems on Silicon (DS2, now Marvell Semiconductors), he contributed to MIMO and multi-user enabled power line silicon solutions and extended his area of interest to smart grids.

Andreas Schwager, Ph.D began his career at ANT Bosch Telecom and Grundig, where he developed narrowband PLC functions for satellite headends. Today, he is principal engineer at Sony Deutschland’s European Technology Center. He represents Sony at various standardization committees at IEEE, ITU, CISPR, CENELEC, Homeplug, and ETSI. He is the rapporteur of over ten work items where technical standards and reports are published, the most recent being the three-part ETSI TR 101 562, specifying MIMO PLC field measurements and presenting results of MIMO PLC properties. He has also led several task forces at international standardization bodies.

Pascal Pagani, Ph.D is associate professor at Telecom Bretagne, member of the Lab-STICC laboratory (UMR CNRS 6285), and member of the IEEE technical committee on PLC. He has worked with France Telecom Orange Labs on UWB propagation channel characterization and modeling, short range wireless system design, and development of in-home wireline communications. He led France Telecom standardization activities in the IEEE 802.15.3c, ITU SG15 G.hn, and HomePlug TWG groups, and participated in the ETSI Specialist Task Force 410 for the experimental assessment of the PLC MIMO transmission channel. His current interests include long-haul radiowave propagation and advanced power line communications.

Daniel M. Schneider received his Dipl.-Ing degree in electrical engineering (with a focus on signal processing and communications) and his Dr.-Ing degree for his thesis In-Home Power Line Communications using Multiple Input Multiple Output Principles from the University of Stuttgart in 2006 and 2012, respectively. He currently serves as senior engineer at Sony Deutschland’s European Technology Center, where his work is concerned with communications systems and PLC, in particular. He has published multiple papers related to powerline communications and MIMO, invented several international patents, and contributed to the PLC HomePlug AV2 specification and the ETSI MIMO-PLC field measurements campaign.

A loose collection of articles ... but authoritative and very up to date

MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) is essential in wireless systems such as LTE or WiFi 802.11n, and in 2011 HomePlug AV 2 added MIMO support, thereby doubling the capacity. The title of the book reflects the diversity of topics, divided into four parts. Part 1 covers channel characteristics and modelling of narrowband and broadband PLC. Part 2 deals with EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) and MIMO capacity, followed by Part 3 on current PLC systems such as the IEEE 1901 standard and the compatible HomePlug AV2 and ITU G.n specifications. Chapters on narrowband standards and IEEE 1905.1 (which defines an abstraction layer on top of PLC, WiFi, Ethernet, etc.) are also included. Part 4 covers advanced PHY and MAC layer processing, and finally Part 5 goes through several actual implementations.
The book is a loose collection of articles and as such it lacks cohesiveness. But, the up-to-date articles are written by the experts in the field cover topics that cannot be found in any other book reviewed here. For example, there is a chapter covering dynamic nothing as required by the European standard EN 50561-1 on electromagnetic compatibility of PLC products. Another chapter is dedicated to IEEE 1905.1.
As a first read this book would be hard to digest, but complemented with Ferreira et al, 2013 and/or Latchmann 2013 it is an invaluable source of information.

A bit academic for my tastes. I was looking for some good engineering info - not a rehash of power-line theory. I am an EE, and It's a lot of handle if you aren't actually designing PLC devices.

More literary than devotional

This is not a "religious" book, in the conventional sense. The poetry is mystical in nature, but appears to be chosen for its literary merit more so than its spiritual or inspirational value. That said, for the literary-minded, this could also function as a sort of prayer book.
