Dr BS Nagoba is Assistant Dean, Research and Development and Professor of Microbiology at MIMSR Medical College, Latur, Maharashtra. He is the Editor of World Journal of AIDS (WJA), a Scientific Research Publication, USA. He was the President of Maharashtra Chapter of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists in the year 1999-2000. He has authored/edited 16 books. He has published 29 papers in prestigious international journals like British Journal of Dermatology, Journal of Hospital Infection and International Wound Journal and 66 papers in national journals. He has presented more than 40 papers in state, national and international conferences. He is reviewer for 25 international journals including International Journal of Dermatology and two national journals. He has developed a newer approach for the treatment of chronic wound infections, which has been accepted as first report of its kind. He has been awarded one international, two national and three state level awards for his achievements in academic and research achievements. He has been adjudged as the Best Teacher by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. Dr Asha Pichare is the Professor and Head of Microbiology at MIMSR Medical College, Latur, Maharashtra. She has presented two papers and published three books. She was the Secretary of Maharashtra Chapter of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists in the year 1999-2000.

Worth Buying

Back Cover: Sophie knew she could never give in to her overwhelming attraction to South American millionaire Alonso (Lon) Galvan. So she agreed to a loveless marriage to a man who left her with a pile of gambling debts. But Lon has never renounced his vow that, one day, Sophie will be his! Now, finding her alone and widowed, it seems his prayers have been answered. At last he can show her what real passion is all about-and that he means to make her his bride.
I really enjoyed this book so I bought it. It was my favorite out of the series. Lon is breath-takingly gorgeous, anyone would fall in love with him. The only problem I had was Sophie's constant and irritable rejections toward him and her trying to hide behind her dead husband whom she didn't even love. But of course she realizes her stupidity in the end and the heat begins...

I really like this story. I thought it was interesting how the characters relationship begins. They met at school, and were inseperable friends along with another guy.

Sophie and Lon had an undeniable attraction, but it was a little too dangerous for Sophie so she chose the other man as her husband. That ended up being very far from the happy ever after she was hoping for. Now her husband is dead and has left her nothing. She is trying to find out what happen to make her a widow. It's a big mystery.

Lon comes to her aid to help her find out what happened to his friend and her husband.

I thought this book was really good. It was nice to see Lon finally get the woman he has wanted forever. It was also good to have the reunion at the end. A nice tale.

Where have I been? Porter?

I have been reading Harlequins for almost 30 years and can truly say that Jane Porter could be one the the best Harlequin writers-ever.

This book had so much depth, character development, plot and emotion it was hard to believe I was reading a Harlequin.

I loved the hero and heroine. I found them believable to the point where I became invested in their story and could not put this book down.

This is only my second Porter. I will be on the look out for more books by Porter. The only recent ones I have seen involve sheiks, in which I have interest.

Two asides: I like that the two books I read have featued American heorines. I do have one quibble, but that is with the title of the book. Why is it called "The Spanaird's Passion" when the hero was Argentinian/English?

About the Author
Jerry C. Whitaker is a well-known author in the field of video, television, HDTV, and radio. The author and editor of dozens of books on technical topics, he edited the leading technical manual in television, The Standard Handbook of Video and Television Engineering. He is also the author of The DTV Handbook, The Standard Handbook of Broadcast Engineering, and The Electronics Handbook, as well as other standard references. Mr. Whitaker is a Fellow of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He has also served as Vice President and Board member of the SBE. Mr. Whitaker is Vice President for Standards Development at the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), the international organization charged with developing voluntary standards for digital television. He resides in Morgan Hill, California.

To celebrate the launch of Short Story Day Africa’s latest anthology, I revisited the stories that I’d previously judged together with Samuel Kolawole (Writers’ Studio, Ibadan) and Jared Shurin (Jurassic London). Fortunately, I had already marked splendid passages in some of the stories, and it wasn’t difficult to lift striking excerpts from all the others. Hopefully, they’ll tempt you to order a copy of this superb anthology, featuring work by some of Africa’s finest experienced and emerging voices. Last year’s SSDA anthology, “Feast, Famine & Potluck”, included the winner of the Caine Prize for African Writing – “My Father’s Head” by Okwiri Oduor – so you can rest assured that you’ll be treated to some quality reading, although I urge you to so during daylight hours, to avoid being haunted by the many spirits and powerful images that populate this anthology.
