Sally Friday is a mess. Not only is she tortured by self-doubt, but she is also clumsy and has no fashion sense. However, these qualities are exactly what her boss is counting on when she sends her to spy on reclusive millionaire playboy, Roman Daniels. Sally, normally an office clerk for the gossip magazine, Normandy, interviews for the position as Roman’s new secretary. His jealous PA, Antonia, immediately hires the girl, confident that her disheveled appearance will make her invisible to Roman’s wandering eye. Reliably disaster-prone, Sally makes a memorable first impression, and Roman wonders if he will survive her employment. But there is something about Sally that Roman can’t dismiss. Unlike every other woman, she is unswayed by his masculine good looks, and he keeps catching intriguing glimpses of her feminine potential. When Sally takes amidnightdip in his pool, Roman makes an eye-popping discovery: Sally is hiding a luscious hour-glass figure beneath those baggy clothes. Her hidden assets as well as her refreshing innocence have Roman hooked. That is, until his growing feelings and fear of commitment get in the way and he decides to back off. With the help of Roman’s best friend Paul, Sally plays to Roman’s jealousy and gives him a taste of his own medicine. But what will Roman do when Sally's deceit is revealed?

PROMISES: 5 Stars: "Some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read in a book. I mean really, they are out of this world! There is never a dull moment between Alex and Solomon. Either they are screwing each other senseless, or close to throttling each other out of anger. The passion is all consuming, making this book a page turner! This book will not disappoint fans of erotic romance!" --April Wood, A Well Read Woman Blog
"Are you looking for a little light summer reading? Then look no further than His Girl Friday by Ellen March." --My Secret Bookspot

"I loved Sally's quick wit from the start and the fact that she was clumsy and didn't particularly care what other people thought of her outward appearance . If you're looking for an enjoyable and easy read, this is the book for you." --Goodreads"
"I really enjoyed PROMISES, by Ellen March. Although both main characters had explosive personalities, and got angry quickly, they were also funny and well written into the story line. Ellen March is a new author for me. I really enjoyed her writing style and the quirkiness of her characters. Ellen March is certainly an author whom I will be checking out other titles from."

Do you like a story about an ugly duckling who turns into a beautiful swan? If you're answer is yes then this book is for you.
His Girl Friday is a delightful read. It's funny, romantic, dramatic and very very enjoyable. Moving at a great pace you will have it finished in no time, and it will leave you with a smile on your face. This book is well written, displays great emotion has good character development and has a line-up of very likeable characters.
Sally our main protagonist and the story point of view is our ugly duckling. She is very awkward and clumsy and at times you feel embarrassed for her if you're not laughing at her antics. Her self esteem is low, but you can see the strength in her that develops nicely as the story moves along, thanks to the help of Paul, Roman's best friend. Roman is our mega rich playboy, and it took me a little while to warm up to him. His temper is right on the surface a lot especially with Sally and his outbursts are at times amusing. As the story moves on his temper fades, thanks to a reality check and this is when I liked him the most. Then we have Paul, Roman's gay best friend, he's fantastic from the first moment. He accepts Sally for who she is, and they become good friends.
The romance side of this book is very sweet and includes some very steamy, tastefully written sex scenes. It also has a very happy ending that is a fitting end to this tale.
Overall, a fun read that will leave you with a smile on your face.
4 stars!

Ellen March is the QUEEN of erotic romance!
By April L Wood
“Meet up, make love, and say goodbye.”
Roman Daniels can have ANY woman he wants. Whether it is because of his masculine good looks, or his bank account, Roman doesn’t care… As long as attractive women are always readily available to him, he is a happy man. Relationships? Yeah right… Roman doesn’t believe in relationships and he certainly doesn’t believe in the “L” word!
Fashionista, Sally Friday isn’t… She doesn’t wear makeup, nor designer clothing, and she is a bit of a walking disaster. When her she-devil of a boss at Normandy Magazine asks her to get the scoop on millionaire playboy Roman Daniels, she sends her best and worst dressed employees to prove a point that Roman is having an affair with his personal assistant. Surely his assistant will hire the ugly duckling to be his secretary, and not the beautiful swan…
Sally gets the secretarial job, of course, but the assignment leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. She doesn’t want to spy on Roman Daniels, but she NEEDS her job to pay her rent.
Sally makes quite the first impression on Roman, knocking over and destroying everything she touches. He is convinced that she is terrible at everything, and doesn’t understand why his PA had hired this total klutz of a woman!
“There is more to her than meets the eye…”
Then, one night he catches her skinny dipping in his pool, and he realizes how truly beautiful she is without the baggy clothes and thick glasses. An absolute knock out she is! And she doesn’t even know it….
Transfixed by her body, but repulsed by her style, he tells everyone he knows how annoying she is and how only a blind man would sleep with her. Roman, playboy millionaire, doesn’t fall for braced, plain faced employees! He refuses to acknowledge his feelings for her. Well, that just isn’t ok with his gay gardener and Sally’s new-found partner-in-crime, Paul. Paul sets out to show Roman just what he is missing!
His Girl Friday, by Ellen March was a delightful read. I absolutely LOVED Sally and Paul the gardener. They were absolutely hilarious! Every girl needs a gay best friend, and I was enthralled with their relationship and antics! This book was 1/3 romance, 1/3 erotic, and 1/3 comedy!
Speaking of comedy, there were soooo many laugh out loud moments! Sally, the walking disaster, had me in hysterics! I’d like to share with you an excerpt of a REALLY funny scene from His Girl Friday.

EXCERPT:
When she had bent over, he glanced down. He needed to see if her body was for real or if he had imagined it, and he resisted the urge to cup her large breasts. She was standing now, and his gaze scored across her flat stomach and jutting hip bones.
He’d seen enough to have his curiosity well and truly piqued.
She clasped the towel around her and with a glare at the traitorous dogs, for giving her away, padded through the door. Walking across the kitchen, she tried not to stare at the tall, beautiful woman seated on the high stool.
“Evening.” Sally smiled, as if this was an everyday occurrence. Then she slipped on the wet tiles and crashed to the floor with a loud shriek, clutching her towel tightly. Thankfully, she hadn’t let go, she scrambled clumsily to her feet, and with head held high, left the kitchen.
Roman put a hand up to cover his eyes, shaking his head in despair. “I’ll see you in the morning.” His deep voice promised retribution. “I think we need to have a little chat.”
“Who was that?” asked Sheena. She was about to drape herself over Roman until she saw that he was saturated. “What on earth happened to you?”
“Don’t ask, but it’s hard to get good staff these days.”

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn’t always love Roman. He is an arrogant, controlling, bad tempered womanizer who thinks the world revolves around him. Sally on the other hand, is a VERY likable character, braces and all! :) I would love to see Paul the gardener get his own book, with cameo appearances from Sally and Roman! Paul was such a great character. He had a HUGE influence on the story, even as a secondary character!
The erotic scenes were superb! A+! Ellen March is the QUEEN of erotic romance!

Funny, sexy read
By Nona Raines
Sally Friday is the embodiment of Murphy’s Law: if anything can go wrong in her life, it will. If there’s anything to drop, break or trip over, she’s there. She’s the ultimate klutz.
But she has a good heart. She doesn't want to spy on billionaire Roman Daniels, but knows if she refuses, she'll lose her job. And she’s barely getting by now.
Roman’s used to women throwing themselves at him, and doesn’t know what to do with this disaster of a woman who breaks his expensive items and nearly burns down his house trying to cook dinner. But when he glimpses the lovely swan beneath the ugly duckling exterior, he falls into lust with her. Can that lust turn to love? If Sally succumbs to his advances, will she be more than a one night stand?
His Girl Friday is a true Cinderella tale. Though Roman’s coolness after their first liaison crushes Sally, remember that Cinderella had to try on the glass slipper before she finally bagged her Prince. Sally’s “godmother” is none other than Roman’s best friend Paul, who takes Sally under his wing. With his help she emerges from her cocoon to become a brilliant butterfly.
The story employs an omniscient POV, which threw me a bit until I got used to it. I liked Sally a lot, though at times the author seemed to stack the cards against her a bit too much. Still, she was a fighter who bounced back every time life knocked her down. Her sweet nature and determination made her a winning character. I flip-flopped on Roman, as he came off as arrogant and less sympathetic in the beginning. As the tale developed and his feelings for Sally deepened, his better nature shone through. I wanted to kick him during the "black moment" when he cruelly turned on Sally, but happily he completely redeemed himself in the end.
Anyone looking for a light, funny, sexy read will gobble up His Girl Friday. I really enjoyed it.
I received this story in order to review it and received no further remuneration. This review originally appeared at The Divas of Desire blog.

Quirky and Entertaining!
By My Secret Book Spot
Are you looking for a little light summer reading? Then look no further than "His Girl Friday" by Ellen March. Sally's only ever known the simple life. She lives a meager lifestyle and doesn't really allow herself to dream. She grew up thinking she was the ugly duckling and tries to shrink in the shadows accordingly. It's too bad she's a clumsy mess who can't help but be noticed regularly for one "accident" or another. When an undercover assignment for the magazine she clerks at falls into her lap, Sally finally has an opportunity to see what life on the other side looks like. What she finds starts her on an epic journey that will change her life and have her questioning everything she ever thought about herself.
I found Sally to be quite funny and entertaining. She's very straightforward and unassuming. Even surrounded by the opulent lifestyle she still manages to hang on to her humbleness and the simplicity that she brings out in every situation. My only criticism is about how she sees herself. For someone who was able to see past the outward appearance of just about everything she was consistently unable to do that with herself. I understood that she didn't think herself at all attractive but I wished she hadn't continued to harp on it. It detracted from her general quirkiness and the idea that she didn't really care about that in others.
Roman was the typical playboy becoming bored with his easy lifestyle. I think that March played a little too close to that stereotype. For most of the book he seems quite one dimensional and I found it a little hard to understand why Sally would waste her time on him. I was over halfway through the book before I actually saw a crack in his armor and it was only then that I was able to connect with him. I would have liked to see more development with him and more of a reason behind his womanizing ways.
I really enjoyed the relationship Sally developed with Roman's best friend, Paul. He is smart, funny, and possesses a wry sense of humor that was a great match with Sally. They had awesome chemistry and if it weren't for the fact that he was gay I would have been rooting for this twosome instead.
March's style is fairly easy to read and will make for good light reading. The story is fluid and not too deep. Overall I liked the story line and found the character of Sally and her quirks entertaining enough to keep me interested.
