He serves as the Chief Operating Officer for a fee-only financial planning firm with over $500 million in assets under management and he's an active member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). Matthew is the author of the books "Financial Planning For Your First Job," "Your Guide to the CFP Certification Exam," and "CFP Certification Exam Practice Question Workbook." In addition, he teaches the class "Financial Planning in your 20s and 30s" at Ohio State University.

Good, not comprehensive

I have worked with this workbook extensively over the last two months in preparation for my CFP exam. I have answered every question in the book. I am writing my review in between day one and day two of the actual CFP exam and I can tell you that the questions in the book are definitional, simplistic, and immature compared to the actual exam. The book does cover the major areas the test is focused on. The answers provided for each question are brief. Many provide enough relevant facts to explain the answer, however some simply give the answer.

This review book is good for the casual overview of the depth of information that you'll need to know for the CFP Exam. I would not use this as my only source of study bank questions, but I would recommend it as one of the many you'll need to work towards obtaining the designation.

Tells you where you need to study more

I used this book to prepare for the exam. It was a good question book on its own, but it also pointed me in the direction of where I needed to study more. The book seems to simplify a lot of the hardest topics which is what I was looking for. There were enough questions that I was able to go back over them and not have them memorized.
